Michael Wienecke
Hey, and welcome to the All Seasons Weed and Feed Podcast. I’m Michael Wienecke and I have with me Parker Bond. We’re the owners of All Seasons Weed and Feed, and today we just wanted to talk about how important it was to do a pre and post emergent treatments. Parker, why don’t you elaborate a little bit on that?
Parker Bond
Thank you, Michael. Pre and post emergence are important. Whether it’s in the springtime, wintertime or fall, what you want to do is you want to start to build a barrier, so that those weed seeds that haven’t germinate yet get killed, then once they have germinated, that post emergent, will then kill the weeds that have germinated. And then you will continue to have a clean yard throughout the winter, I’m sure that you’ve driven by somebody’s house, and there are weeds all over the place. Obviously, that’s somebody that hasn’t been on a program, or you go by a yard in January, and that yard is just spotless. That’s somebody that’s having their yard treated.
Michael Wienecke
So what time of year, should they be doing the pre and post emergents?
Parker Bond
Late August, through the end of October, and then come January into April, early May, are the times where you are building that layer up so that there’s less weeds. Now, there are going to be some weeds here and there. But if the company is doing it properly, then you will be seeing those weeds die within seven to 10 days after treatment.
Michael Wienecke
Perfect. And is this something that the homeowner can easily do himself?
Parker Bond
If they are very regimented? Yes, that is possible, but to stay regimented every six weeks, that is something that I have found that a lot of people have come back to me and said, “Parker, I realized that I just can’t handle it. Will you take over for me?”
Michael Wienecke
Completely understand it’s kind of cutting your own grass after you know after a while. It’s just it keeps getting the high and the high and you get tired of it. Well, that was just one of our tips that we want to talk about getting that pre emergent down and post emergent down. Of course, if you have any questions or if you’d like some help with that, give us a call. We are All Seasons Weed and Feed at 205-902-8737. Thanks and have a great day!
